Purwakarta, Wartacana.com – 18 Juli 2025 Mahasiswa Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang Melakukan upaya mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap pestisida kimia dan mendorong pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan secara produktif, program WARTA (Workshop Media Tanam Trichoderma) sukses digelar dengan antusiasme tinggi dari masyarakat desa.
Program ini menghadirkan pelatihan pembuatan media tanam organik yang diperkaya dengan Trichoderma sp., jamur antagonis yang berperan sebagai pestisida hayati. Trichoderma membantu menekan pertumbuhan patogen tanaman sekaligus mendorong pertumbuhan tanaman secara alami tanpa bahan kimia sintetis.
Melalui kegiatan ini, warga tidak hanya mendapatkan edukasi tentang manfaat media tanam organik dan cara mengembangkan Trichoderma secara mandiri, tetapi juga dibagikan bibit pakcoy beserta polybag yang telah berisi media tanam siap pakai. Total sebanyak 300 polybag telah didistribusikan kepada warga yang memiliki pekarangan berpotensi.
Tak berhenti sampai di sana, sebagai langkah keberlanjutan, tim pelaksana juga mengajukan permohonan biang Trichoderma ke Dinas POPT (Pengendali Organisme Pengganggu Tumbuhan) untuk kemudian dikembangbiakkan secara lokal oleh perwakilan warga. Sistem distribusi mandiri ini diharapkan menciptakan ekosistem berbagi yang memperkuat ketahanan pangan lokal dan mendorong pertanian berkelanjutan berbasis komunitas.
WARTA menjadi langkah awal dalam menciptakan sistem pertanian ramah lingkungan yang mampu menyeimbangkan produktivitas, kesehatan, dan kelestarian lingkungan di Desa Pasawahan Kidul.
