Karawang, Wartacana.com — Jalan rusak di berbagai titik wilayah Kabupaten Karawang kembali memakan korban. Kondisi infrastruktur jalan yang tidak memadai, seperti berlubang, ambles, hingga minim penerangan, telah menyebabkan puluhan kecelakaan lalu lintas, bahkan merenggut nyawa warga.
Menurut data yang dihimpun dari Kepolisian Resor Karawang, terdapat sekitar 30 titik kejadian perkara (TKP) kecelakaan lalu lintas yang tercatat sepanjang Januari hingga Mei 2025. Angka ini cukup memprihatinkan karena dapat meningkatkan kecelakaan.
“Mayoritas kecelakaan terjadi karena pengendara tidak siap menghadapi kondisi jalan yang rusak. Faktor utamanya adalah kelalaian, jalan berlubang, serta kelelahan akibat kerja shift malam di kawasan industri,” ujar Rudi, Kanit SATLANTAS dari KAPOLRES Kab. Karawang.
Ia menambahkan bahwa pihaknya telah menyurati PLN terkait minimnya penerangan dan Dinas PUPR mengenai perbaikan jalan. “Kami juga sudah melakukan edukasi melalui program Polisi Sahabat Anak dan sosialisasi ke sekolah. Namun kesadaran masyarakat masih sangat minim,” ungkapnya kepada Wartacana.com.
Kerusakan jalan bukan sekadar laporan angka. Di lapangan, warga merasakan langsung dampaknya. Di Jalan Raya Pangkalan, kecamatan Telukjambe Barat Faisal berusia 40 tahun dan Nurul berusia 43 tahun, warga yang setiap hari melewati jalan tersebut, menyebut pernah menyaksikan truk terguling karena jalan ambles.
“Pernah ada kontainer terguling empat bulan lalu. Harus pakai mobil derek untuk mengangkatnya. Jalan ini sudah rusak sekitar empat tahun. Diperbaiki sebentar, rusak lagi,” ujar Faisal.
Sementara itu, Ida berusia 32 tahun warga Lingkar Tanjung Pura, mengungkap bahwa pernah terjadi kecelakaan saat malam Lebaran yang menyebabkan seorang perempuan meninggal di tempat. “Langsung ditangani polisi” ucapnya.
Salah satu korban jalan rusak di Karawang, Vyandra berusia 20 tahun dan sedang ngekost di Karawang angkat bicara. Vyandra, menceritakan pengalamannya jatuh akibat jalan rusak yang telah lama ia ketahui.
“Saya tahu jalan itu rusak. Tapi saat itu saya tidak sadar dan akhirnya jatuh. Biaya pengobatan saya tanggung sendiri, dan tidak ada bantuan dari pemerintah, dan harapannya segera diperbaiki sebelum memakan korban lagi,” ujar Vyandra 27 Juni 2025 kepada Wartacana.com.
Persoalan kerusakan jalan di Karawang selalu terjadi. Sudah diperbaiki, rusak lagi, hingga menimbulkan kecelakaan dan korban jiwa. Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Ruang (PUPR) Karawang mengungkapkan bahwa kerusakan jalan disebabkan oleh kendaraan yang tidak sesuai dengan kelas jalan yang tersedia.
“Banyak jalan kabupaten yang dirancang untuk kendaraan maksimal 8 ton, tetapi justru dilalui kendaraan industri berbobot besar,” jelas Taufik Nugraha Bidang Jalan PUPR Karawang.
Ia juga menyebut bahwa jenis tanah di Karawang yang ekspansif serta saluran air yang buruk memperparah kerusakan jalan. “Permukaan Karawang datar. Ketika hujan, air sulit mengalir ke saluran, bahkan sering tergenang. Ini mempercepat kerusakan jalan,” katanya.
Meski demikian, pihaknya mengaku telah mengerahkan empat tim pemeliharaan yang secara bergiliran melakukan perbaikan berdasarkan skala prioritas.
“Iya paling pemeliharaan itu, kita kan sekarang dari pemeliharaan ada 4 tim, muter terus selama ini. Cuma kan maksudnya kita pilih dari prioritas ya, kemudian kan kita tenaganya cuma 4 tim, Karawang yang begitu luasnya sehingga nah paling menyesuaikan jadwalnya, kita udah menjadwalkan si kapan-kapannya paling tinggal nunggu waktu aja” Ujar Taufik kepada Wartacana.com.
Jalan bukan sekedar penghubung wilayah, tetapi juga jalur keselamatan masyarakat. Jika kerusakan ini terus diabaikan, maka pertanyaannya bukan lagi “kapan diperbaiki?”, melainkan “korban berikutnya siapa?”
